For more than two decades I have focused my practice primarily upon family law and other civil litigation, representing clients in cases at both the trial and appellate level. I am committed to seeking the best resolutions for my clients by negotiation when possible, but am also ready and well equipped to assertively litigate cases when necessary. I have extensive litigation and trial experience so have the necessary skills to effectively and persuasively present your case in Court.
I also enjoy working as a mediator helping couples going through the divorce process or other family law matters find resolutions outside the courtroom. My experience as a family law practitioner provides me with a deep understanding of the many possible outcomes that my mediation clients might face if they end up taking their cases to Court, which often helps them make decisions about how they might like to resolve their issues more amicably.
I also have extensive experience in personal injury, and civil rights litigation. For example, I represented a victim of childhood sexual abuse in a suit against a local school supervisory union, recovering $1 million dollars from Defendants when they finally settled the case mid trial. My ability to assess your case and develop an effective strategy combined with my skills as a seasoned negotiator and litigator provide me with all I need to obtain the best possible outcomes for my clients whether by negotiation, mediation, or trial.

Representation
You can retain me to oversee your case entirely. Under these circumstances I advise you as to all of the possible actions you might take and the range of possible consequences associated with those actions., we strategize and make decisions together, I remain in charge of all the necessary Court filings and appearances most of which you will also attend, and I keep you informed of all that happens in your case. The cost to retain me will depend upon the complexity of your case. My retainer fee is based upon my assessment of what it might cost to bring your case to resolution.
Consultation
You can hire me by the hour to get input and advice about how you might or should proceed in your case without the cost of full representation. You can also hire me to draft documents for you. As a consulting attorney I will charge you by the hour at the time services are rendered.
In just an hour or two I can get enough information about your case to give you an opinion as to the range of likely outcomes of what might happen if your case is contested and a Court issues a judgment in the case. This is really important information to consider when trying to negotiate an agreement or deciding how to proceed. If you have already reached an agreement or have an agreement you want to propose, I can help you draft the documents necessary to make that agreement legally enforceable.
Mediation
The first thing I tell my mediation clients is that the mediation process gives them an opportunity to maintain control of the resolution of their case rather than letting a Judge determine how it will be resolved. If people are able to come to this process understanding that they must each be willing to make some compromises, mediation can provide a more amicable, comfortable, and far less expensive process. When going through the mediation process you should also consult with an experienced family law attorney.
